This year I am trying something new with my students. Mother Goose Time has workbooks called “More Math” and “More Literacy”. So far, I like the books. Some of the pages seem a little too advanced for my students. But, they are gettting it. So far, we’ve only done 2 pages in each of the books. A few of the students are really embracing the workbooks and a few are not so sure or ready for these books. But, I’ve been picking pages to do with them that are at their level or a little above that they could do with help from an adult.
We learned the letter ‘B’ this week. The workbooks help reinforce the literacy skills we are learning for that day and for the month. We did the page that has the students circling the letter ‘b’ at the end of the word. This was excellent in helping my students listen for the letter ‘b’ sound as well as looking at the letters to find which one was letter ‘b’.
We learned the number 1 and 2 this week. We are practicing recognizing the number and counting that many objects. I am not so concerned with them being able to write the numbers right now. To help them with the page we did today, I wrote the number 1 and 2 in the correctt boxes for the students with a highlighter. They needed to identify the number and trace over the highlighted number to complete the page.
I am excited to see what more the students will learn with these workbooks.
** I receive curriculum from Mother Goose Time for honest and authentic stories resulting from my daily experiences using the curriculum. This is my 3rd year using Mother Goose Time, and I am pleased to promote quality educational learning experiences through play with Mother Goose Time!
