This month, we are learning about super heroes. This is a fun theme! On Wednesday, we learned about how some heroes have super vision. We looked at the Theme Poster with magnify glasses. We searched for symbols, masks, capes, and things my child thought looked interesting.
The theme poster is a great way to introduce a new theme. You can also see how much your students know based on the items they point out in the poster and the questions they ask.
We made a “Make & Play” special super vision wand. Mother Goose Time sent paper that had swirls and designs all over. The special wands were going to help us see a secret picture on the papers.
My students had to cut the pieces of paper apart helping them with fine motor skills. Then, they decorated the wands and taped the cellophane to the wand. Finally, we looked at the paper through our magic wands and saw the secret pictures.
We talked about the letters we saw on the secret picture and practiced reading the words. I asked, “How do you think this works?” Then, we drew our own picture with many colors and used the wand to see which colors showed up when using the wand and which colors were hidden.
Super vision is definitely a new favorite super hero power that we wish we had.
** I receive curriculum from Mother Goose Time for honest and authentic stories resulting from my daily experiences using the curriculum. This is my 3rd year using Mother Goose Time, and I am pleased to promote quality educational learning experiences through play with Mother Goose Time!
