It’s time for a new school year to begin! I use the Mother Goose Time preschool curriculum. I get excited for the new box I get each month full of supplies, learning materials, games, stories, and much more! The kids are engaged in the learning activities and learn a lot.
Yesterday was “Meet The Teacher.” I am excited about the new group of students I have this year. At “Meet the Teacher”, I read my students The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. I had the parents trace their student’s hand and help glue a heart in the middle. When they come to preschool and see their hand, I hope they remember that their mom loves them and will be back to pick them up at the end of the preschool day. I hung their hands up in our “growing garden” on my front door. The students are going to love seeing their hand on the door as they come to preschool each day. This idea was sent in my Mother Goose Time box. I changed the activity a little to fit better in with what I had planned that day. Each month, Mother Goose Time includes a celebration package. September’s bag is full of ideas and activities to do at an Open House.
Also include in the box are learning games. These games come prepared and ready to go. It saves me time so I can focus on other things.
Each year, I set up a interactive learning wall for circle time. I don’t have a lot of wall space, so everything needs to be able to fit on this wall. Everything on the wall is held on with clothes pins or Velcro for easy access. During circle time, we take down each item as we talk about it so the students can get a closer look. We learn about letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and sight words. We also go over the calendar, weather, and take a closer look at the monthly theme. For each month, Mother Goose Time includes a colorful theme poster, topic of the day posters, sight word pointers and readers, letter cards, number cards, character trait, calendar with numbers reflecting a pattern, nursery rhyme, color wands, and shape in every box! They also include a map of the world with the first box that you order.
This year, Mother Goose Time included a daily schedule. It looks great and helps the kids keep a predictable routine each preschool day.
My top 3 reasons for why I love the Mother Goose Time preschool curriculum:
- Saves me time! My first year, I did everything myself and I would spend hours getting everything ready for each preschool day. I would spend hours preparing the craft, making games, researching good books, etc. With Mother Goose Time, everything is ready to go each day. There may be a few things I need to prep before each preschool day, but instead of spending my time cutting and preparing, I can focus on the kids and each of their individual needs.
- The students love it! Each day we do different activities that teach a concept. Mother Goose Time activities are engaging, kid friendly, and easy to prepare for.
- Gets kids thinking! Each month, there are suggested investigation stations for the kids to do. We do these at the beginning of each class day. I usually propose a question and see if kids can discover the answer for themselves.
I’m excited for a new year!
